Learn digital marketing

Short lessons in plain words for people starting from zero. Read one a day (about 4 minutes each), do the small task at the end, and tick it off. Hover over the dotted words for a quick meaning.

The big picture: digital marketing is getting the right people to find you, trust you and act. The main parts are SEO (free Google traffic), content (useful pages and posts), social media (being seen where people scroll), paid ads (fast traffic you pay for), email (staying in touch) and analytics (checking what works). Digital Marketing Guide 360 teaches each one and gives you a tool for it.

🔎1. What is SEO?
SEO means helping the right people find your website on Google without paying for ads.
4 min

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. When someone searches on Google, the results have two kinds: paid ads at the top, and normal results below. SEO is the work of earning a place in those normal (organic) results.

Google wants to show the most helpful, trustworthy page for each search. So SEO is really about three things: make it clear what your page is about, make the page genuinely helpful, and make your site trusted and easy to use.

SEO is slow but it keeps working. A good page can bring visitors for years, and you do not pay per click. Most sites need a few months before results show, so patience and consistency matter more than tricks.

Words to know: organic traffic · ranking ·

Do this:
  • Write down in one sentence what your website offers and who it is for.
  • Search that sentence on Google and see who shows up. Those are your competitors.

🔑2. Keywords: the words people search
A keyword is what people type into Google. Choosing the right ones is the first step of SEO.
4 min

If you sell handmade candles, people might search "candles", "buy scented candles online" or "soy candles for gifts". Each of those is a keyword. They are very different searches with different competition.

Short keywords like "candles" are searched a lot but are very hard to rank for. Longer ones like "soy candles for wedding gifts" are searched less but are far easier to win, and the people typing them know exactly what they want. These are called long-tail keywords.

A good starting rule: begin with specific, longer keywords that match what you really offer. Win those first, then move to broader ones.

  • Use Digital Marketing Guide 360's SEO Coach to get a starter list for your site.
  • Pick 3 keywords that describe what you offer very specifically.

🎯3. Search intent: what does the person want?
Behind every search is a goal. Match your page to that goal and you win.
3 min

There are three common goals. Some people want to learn ("how to choose a yoga mat"). Some are comparing ("best yoga mats"). Some are ready to act ("buy yoga mat online").

Google tries to show pages that fit the goal. A page that sells a product will not rank well for a "how to" search, and a long guide will not rank well for "buy now" searches.

Ask before writing a page: what does the person typing this want to do next? Then build the page to give them that.

Words to know: search intent ·

Do this:
  • For each keyword you chose, decide: learn, compare, or act?
  • Make sure the page you plan matches that goal.

📈4. How ranking works, simply
Google looks at whether your page is relevant, helpful, trusted and easy to use.
4 min

Google does not publish its exact recipe, but its own guidance says the same few things again and again. Relevance: does the page match the search? Helpfulness: does it truly answer the question, better than others? Trust: do other good sites link to it and does the site look reliable? Experience: is it fast, safe (https) and easy to use on a phone?

Your position is the place you appear. Position 1 to 10 is page one. Most people never go past page one, so the goal is to get onto page one for keywords that matter to you.

You do not need to be first for everything. Being on page one for a handful of specific keywords that bring buyers is a real success.

Words to know: ranking · position · impressions · click rate ·

Do this:
  • Check where you rank today: open the Coach report or the Google data page.
  • Note two keywords where you are on page two. These are your quickest wins.

🏷️5. Titles and descriptions
Your title and description are your advert on Google. Write them for humans.
4 min

The title is the blue headline in the results. Put your main keyword in it, keep it under about 60 characters so it is not cut off, and make it clear and interesting. Example: "Soy Candles for Wedding Gifts | Your Brand".

The meta description is the short grey text below it. Google may rewrite it, but a clear one (about 120 to 155 characters) that says what the visitor will get often earns more clicks. It does not directly push you up, but more clicks help.

Every page should have its own title and description. Do not copy the same ones across pages.

  • Rewrite your home page title with your main keyword and brand.
  • Write a description for your 3 most important pages.

✍️6. Writing a page that can rank
A ranking page answers the question fully, is easy to scan, and shows you know the subject.
5 min

Start by looking at the pages already on page one for your keyword. What do they cover? Your page should cover everything they cover, then add something they miss: a clearer explanation, real photos, a table, a personal example.

Use one H1 (the main heading), then sub-headings that break the page into short sections. Use plain words, short paragraphs and lists. Add a short FAQ answering real questions people ask.

Add pictures with alt text, and link to your other related pages using clear words (not "click here"). Do not stuff the keyword everywhere: write naturally, and Google will understand.

⚙️8. Technical basics anyone can check
Fast, safe, phone-friendly sites do better and keep visitors.
4 min

Google must be able to find and save your pages. That is called indexing. A sitemap helps, and Google Search Console (free) shows whether your pages are indexed and reports problems.

Check three basics. Is your site on https (the padlock)? Does it work well on a phone? Does it load quickly? Digital Marketing Guide 360's Analyzer scores these for you and lists what to fix.

Do not let technical worry stop you. Most small sites only need a good theme, compressed images and a working sitemap.

Words to know: indexing · sitemap · mobile-friendly · Search Console ·

Do this:
  • Connect Google Search Console in Digital Marketing Guide 360 (Google data).
  • Run the Analyzer on your home page and fix the top two items.

📍9. Local SEO for shops, clinics and services
If customers find you by area, your Google Business Profile matters most.
4 min

Searches like "dentist near me" or "cake shop in Pune" show a map and local businesses first. To appear there, claim your free Google Business Profile, choose the right category, and keep your address, phone and hours correct and the same everywhere online.

Ask happy customers for reviews and reply to every review politely. Add photos. On your website, mention your city and area in your headings and have a page for each area you serve.

Do this:
  • Claim or update your Google Business Profile.
  • Ask three customers for an honest review this week.

📱10. Social media marketing basics
Social media builds awareness and sends visitors. Do a few things well rather than everything.
5 min

Social media does not directly raise your Google ranking, but it helps people discover you, builds trust and sends visitors to your site. Choose one or two platforms where your customers actually spend time: Instagram and Facebook for consumers, LinkedIn for business services, YouTube for teaching.

Post consistently rather than in bursts. Mix useful tips, behind-the-scenes, proof (real customer stories, with permission) and occasional offers. Start each post with a clear first line that makes people stop scrolling, and end with one simple action.

Turn one good blog article into several posts: a short video, a carousel, a quote. Digital Marketing Guide 360's Content Calendar plans a month for you.

Do this:
  • Pick your one main platform.
  • Make a 30-day plan in the Content Calendar and post the first week.

💰11. Google Ads and Facebook/Instagram Ads
Ads bring visitors fast, but they stop when you stop paying. Use them alongside SEO.
5 min

SEO is slow and free. Ads are fast and paid. Google Ads shows your ad when someone searches a keyword and you pay per click (CPC). Facebook and Instagram ads reach people based on interests and location, even when they are not searching.

Start small. Set a daily budget you are comfortable losing while you learn, run two or three different ads, and check what works after a couple of weeks. Send the clicks to a page built for one clear action.

Track results. If a click costs more than a customer is worth, change the ad or the page. Digital Marketing Guide 360's Ad Budget Calculator helps you plan spend and see what a bigger budget might do.

Words to know: CPC · conversion ·

Do this:
  • Use the Budget Calculator to plan a small test.
  • Decide the one action you want from every ad click.

📊12. Measuring what works
A monthly 15-minute check tells you what to do more of.
4 min

Two free Google tools answer two questions. Search Console: which searches show my site, how often, and where do I rank? Analytics: how many people visit, where from, and what do they do?

Digital Marketing Guide 360 shows both in My Sites, in three simple numbers: Traffic (visits), Sources (where visitors come from) and Clicks (from Google search).

Once a month, look at what grew, what fell, and which pages bring visitors. Do more of what works. Small steady improvements add up.

Words to know: Search Console · Analytics · organic traffic ·

Do this:
  • Open My Sites and note this month's three numbers.
  • Set a reminder to check again in 30 days.

🗓️13. Your first 30 days
A simple order of work if you are starting from zero.
3 min

Week 1: set up. Run the SEO Coach on your site, connect Google, fix your home page title and description. Week 2: write your first keyword page. Week 3: write a second, link your pages together, and if you are local, complete your Google Business Profile.

Week 4: tell people. Share your pages on social media, ask partners for a link, and run the Analyzer on each new page. Then check your numbers and repeat the cycle next month.

Do not try to do everything at once. Finishing one small step each week beats planning ten.
